Under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, Queen Rania Teacher Academy (QRTA) is organizing the first regional Teacher Skills Forum 2014. The Teacher Skills Forum aims to bring to the forefront the pressing educational needs of the region by highlighting the importance of placing literacy, math and science competencies at the heart of learning to prepare students for the 21st century workforce.
The Teacher Skills Forum offers a unique opportunity for teachers to be exposed to the latest developments, practices, and technologies to improve teaching and learning in the classroom. Workshops will be offered in Arabic and English throughout the duration of the forum, to meet the varying needs of teachers in the region. The motivation guiding the Teacher Skills Forum is based on the necessity for regional educators to address and align with Arab World needs for enhancing math, science and literacy achievement scores for the region, as well as unlocking the potential that math, science and literacy have on developing “21st Century Skills”.
The aim of the forum is to provide teachers with opportunities and access to: learn new teaching strategies and techniques; to discuss possible action points and goals for enhancing classroom and school communities; toshare and apply best teaching practices; to network and create lasting relationships based on a shared vision; to provide teachers with the skills to develop modern, innovative lessons that incorporate technologies into classroom instruction; and finally, to support teachers to prepare students to compete in a knowledge driven economy.
The forum will be a two day event to be held at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre, at the Dead Sea on 6 & 7 December 2014.
