The Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities, Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi, participated in the UNESCO Regional Conference on Quality Assurance at Arab Universities, organized by UNESCO in Bahrain with Arab and foreign participation.
Dr. Abu Orabi spoke at the conference inaugurated by HE Sheikh Mohammad bin Mubarak Al Khalifeh, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Education and President of the Higher Education Council in Bahrain, Dr. Majed Al Nuaimi, on the role of the Association of Arab Universities in promoting education concepts and programs at Arab universities. He also highlighted the role of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Council which is based at the General Secretariat of the Association, adding that it authored and published 15 academic manual and references on quality assurance in the Arab countries. Finally, he discussed the role of the Association in accrediting academic programs at Arab universities.
Dr. Abu Orabi also participated in the Arab Quality Assurance Network meetings, which discussed the approach of the Network in its work, its mechanisms of operation and its development of quality concepts at Arab universities. Also discussed was the organization of supportive seminars, workshops and conferences in this field, a role played by the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Council at the Association of Arab Universities, which represents most of the heads of national and Arab commissions.
In the same context, Dr. Abu Orabi participated in the International Quality Assurance Network Conference, also held in Bahrain with representatives of 56 Arab and foreign countries in attendance. The Conference was patronized by HE Sheikh Mohammad bin Mubarak Al Khalifeh, Deputy Prime Minister, and attended by the Chairman of the Jordanian Higher Education Accreditation Commission Dr. Bashir Al Zoubi and representatives of Arab and foreign countries. It was decided that the following conference of the International Network will be held in 2019 in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo.
